WEEK 4 RECAP

Before we get into the Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups, where else can we possibly start, other than talking about the craziness that went on in Minnesota this weekend? Seriously, what happened?! NO ONE in their right mind predicted this. The Bills won 27-6 on the road IN Minnesota? Kirk Cousins put up NEGATIVE points, and Latavius Murray and the Minnesota defense were one of the biggest chalk plays of the week. Instead, they upset us more than Dwight did to Michael Scott when he met with Jan to try and take over the Scranton branch.

Jordy Nelson traveled back to 2014 and went off for 6 receptions, 173 yards, and a touchdown. Nelson Agholor was the WR1 for the Eagles yet only had 4 catches for 24 yards on only 5 targets. TJ Yeldon and Blake Bortles didn’t do a dang thing against a very favorable matchup with the Titans defense. The Dallas defense was outplayed by the Seattle defense. Baker Mayfield brought Cleveland back to life by leading them to their first win in 2 years while channeling the “Cleveland! This one is for you!” vibes. The Cardinals and Mike McCoy decided to give the ball to Chase Edmonds on a crucial play in the first quarter instead of David freakin’ Johnson. The Calvin Ridley breakout game happened. C-Mac had 28 carries and only two catches. Josh Rosen made his NFL debut, and Clay Matthews was hit with another flag after sacking the QB by “putting his body weight on him” more than he should (Gotta love that new NFL rule). Now, the Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups!

WAIVER WIRE PICKUPS

QB – Jared Goff, Rams – Not sure how, or why, but Jared Goff is sitting on the waiver wire in many leagues. Goff has three wide receivers in Woods, Kupp and Cooks who are all averaging double digit fantasy points and also has a great pass catching back in Todd Gurley. This would be a solid pick up for Jimmy G owners.

RB – Ty Montgomery, Packers – With Aaron Jones coming back into the mix, the Packers are now in full fledge RB by committee. I can’t lie, it may be a headache trying to figure out which running back to go with per game, but I’d lean on Ty Montgomery in PPR leagues since he is their best pass-catching back.

RB – Wendall Smallwood, Eagles – Corey Clement didn’t receive the huge workload we expected and hoped for. If Sproles and Ajayi miss Week 4, this would be a great pickup against a Titans team. Wendell Smallwood may not be a long term fix, but if you’re hurting for RB or facing bye week dilemmas, he’s a decent pickup this week.

WR- Mike Williams, ChargersMike Williams has the ability to stretch the field, and has become a solid WR2 for Rivers. He is definitely a flex play week-in and week-out. The Chargers next four games, before their bye, are very favorable matchups for WR’s, and three of them are at home (49ers, Raiders, Browns & Titans).

WR- Tyler Boyd, Bengals – In the past two games Tyler Boyd totaled 12 receptions for 223 yards and two touchdowns. He seems to be everything we hope John Ross will be and seems to be settling in as the Bengals WR2. If AJ Green misses any time, he will become the Red Rocket’s #1 weapon.

TE- Dallas Goedert, EaglesDallas Goedert saw 7 targets from Wentz in their first game together, so the connection between the two was a positive sign. Once Alshon comes back, his targets will likely take a hit. He does have a favorable matchup in Week four, and if anything were to happen to Ertz, he will be in the Eagles TE1, which will make him one of the most valuable tight ends in fantasy.
