Miami Gardens, FL – The new Miami Open presented by Itaú is a culmination of culture, world-class fare, art, music, entertainment, luxury and a new caliber of guest experience at Hard Rock Stadium. The partnership between Hard Rock Stadium Owner Stephen Ross and IMG brings exceptional tennis to a venue that is a global entertainment destination.

The 2019 event is the 35th edition of the tournament and the first held at Hard Rock Stadium. First hosted in 1985, the Miami Open presented by Itaú was the first combined two-week event outside of the four Grand Slams. With more than $17 million in prize money, the Miami Open is a top-tier mandatory event on the ATP and WTA tours that features the world’s top-ranked men’s and women’s players. In 2017, IMG and Stephen Ross entered into a partnership to keep the Miami Open in Miami through a new home at Hard Rock Stadium. The move provides the Miami Open the freedom and flexibility to grow and innovate the event.

LUXURY

The Miami Open’s move to Hard Rock Stadium has elevated the premium seating experience to a new caliber unlike any seen before in tennis. The venue’s luxury clubs cater to the region’s most affluent residents, international visitors and celebrities. Multi-screen experiences with large-screen televisions and tablets, spacious seating with ample legroom complete with an all-inclusive club showcasing world-class fare offer an unparalleled experience.

ENTERTAINMENT

When guests arrive, they will receive both a schedule of matches for the day as well as a schedule of entertainment. There was real intention in creating different entertainment, music and food destinations so that each day there could be a completely different guest experience. Visitors will be able to relish in a wide variety of entertainment options for music, ranging from an acoustic artist performing in the Grove to a DJ at Kiki on the River.

DINING

The world-class fare available throughout the tournament will offer an expansive array of international dining experiences. Continuing a commitment to bring fresh, diverse flavors, Hard Rock Stadium, IMG and Centerplate curated local restaurant partnerships with some of the most desirable venues in town, including Bluestone Lane Café, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, Casa Tua Cucina, Chī Fa, Kiki on the River, Novecento, Pincho Factory, Sushi Maki and SuViche, and as well as high-end beverage activations with Moét & Chandon, Kim Crawford, Stella Artois and William Grant & Sons.

The signature cocktail of the Miami Open, the MO Smash, will be available at every bar. The refreshment is light, pairing Hendrick’s Gin, blood orange sour, club soda, blood orange liquor and garnished with a dehydrated lemon wheel.

ART

Stephen Ross, together with IMG, recognized that Miami is a curator of culture for the rest of the country and in some ways the rest of the world. Partnerships with Art Miami and art murals curated through Goldman Global Arts from Wynwood Walls bring world-class art from international artists to the Miami Open.

The Art Open Miami produced by Art Miami will feature modern and contemporary paintings, prints, sculpture and photography art for sale that is reflective of the producer namesake — the world-renowned Art Miami fair. The pavilion space is being curated by Art Miami Partner & Director Nick Korniloff and will feature important works of art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Six galleries will present world-renowned artists from the Modern, Post War, Pop, Contemporary and Street Art movements. The galleries are Arcature Fine Art (Palm Beach), Ross Kramer Gallery (New York), Ascaso Gallery (Miami and Caracas), Durban Segnini Gallery (Miami), Eternity Gallery (Miami, Paris, Singapore) GGA GALLERY (Miami) and Masterworks Fine Art Gallery (Oakland). The galleries will focus on Latin American contemporary artists like Soto, Cruz Diez, Botero as well as works from Andy Warhol, Sam Francis, Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, and Frank Stella. The fair will feature specially commissioned artworks by renowned street artist Retna and Peter Tunney. All artwork in the exhibit is available for acquisition.

Goldman Global Arts is a curation and consulting arts company formed by Jessica Goldman Srebnick and Peter Tunney, created to expand and infuse a creative perspective into highly visible projects with the goal of inspiring others. Goldman Global Arts bring the curatorial and artistic experience of incorporating art into all areas of culture. Goldman Global Arts commissioned two international artists to create murals for the grandstand. Fluke, from Montreal, created the mural along the west side of the grandstand. American artist Tavar Zawacki, who now lives in Germany, created the mural Transitions that is on the east side of the grandstand. This compliments the various pieces of street art already in place throughout Hard Rock Stadium.

DESIGN

Hard Rock Stadium Owner Stephen Ross and IMG had a shared vision for this event to make it a destination tournament for fans and event goers. The two joined forces to invest in the Miami Open’s facility and the community. Through strategic collaborations with architect, ROSSETTI to execute a design that is elegant, grand and luxurious in scale, to the vision brought to fruition through Moss Construction meeting a very aggressive schedule, every aspect of the experience has been curated specifically to provide a great experience for the fans.

The centerpiece of the tournament will be the 14,000-seat stadium court within Hard Rock Stadium designed for intimacy, luxury, and improved fan experience. Guests will enjoy a state-of-the-art shade canopy and four high-definition video boards.

Guests will have ample opportunity to catch the action on the courts from the largest video board in tennis along Hard Rock Stadium’s South Plaza. The 90-foot wide by 40-foot high screen is complemented by several large screens placed throughout the tennis campus for guests’ viewing.

The new parking experience at the Miami Open offers convenient parking directly adjacent to the tennis campus at Hard Rock Stadium.  

The East Terrace offers guests the opportunity to relax at the casual lounge seating on the Spanish Steps, enjoy the Stella Artois Lounge and relish in the entertainment at Kiki on the River. The Grove offers a culinary experience with selections from Novecento and Chī Fa and will feature acoustic music under string lights throughout the tournament. Old Miami offers an eclectic mix of food trucks as well as decorative chalk art by the practice courts. There are 18 total practice courts with seating for more than 4,000 combined fans. The total onsite courts increased to 30, and nine courts have tour standard lighting to allow for more evening matches.

The Paseo is one of the many locations offered through the tennis campus that offers guests a beautifully landscaped path to the competition courts and Grandstand. The site features a plethora of mature and cultivated landscaping, from 50 Canary Island Date Palms on the tennis plaza, 40 Rusty Fig trees, 25 Bonsai, and 50-year old Green Island Ficus trees to 20 European olive trees shipped directly from California in the Grove as well as 100 additional tropical palm trees throughout the site, the manicured setting was strategically touched for fans to enjoy the tennis campus at the Miami Open.

The Grandstand features 5,191 seats for fans with reserved luxury seating. The venue also houses a new player lounge, locker rooms, and a gym. The venue provides multi-functional utilization of the space as a small amphitheater. The West Lawn offers a mix of entertainment and dining options for guests, including Bluestone Lane Café, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, Casa Tua Cucina, Kim Crawford, Moét Champagne Garden, Sushi Maki, and SuViche. The Miami Open’s move to Hard Rock Stadium also will see the shopping experience at the event elevated to new heights including the LACOSTE boutique where guests can find the exclusive co-branded Miami Open collection.
