MIAMI, FL – Forward Eric Dibami has been named Conference USA Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week. He’s the first FIU player to earn such recognition since Jayden Brewer in 2023.

Dibami had an exceptional week, averaging a double-double with 16.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game on 15-of-21 shooting. The Panthers beat the Trinity College of Jacksonville Eagles last Monday, 121-70, and they narrowly lost in overtime to the Liberty Flames this past Saturday, 97-94.
Against the Eagles, Dibami scored 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and grabbed a career-high of 12 rebounds for his first career double-double. He also had an assist, a block, and two steals in 20 minutes of playing time.
Eric Dibami is the first Panthers freshman to record a double-double in a game since Arturo Dean did it on 3/4/23 at Rice.

Versus the Flames, Eric Dibami scored a career-high of 21 points, converting on 9-of-14 shots. He went 3-for-4 at the charity stripe and grabbed nine rebounds in 35 minutes.
This season, he is averaging 7.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game with a shooting percentage of 54.8 in 11 games.

Before playing at Florida International University, the freshman was already making a name for himself right here in Miami.

He played high school basketball at ABF Academy and Miami Prep School. The power forward/center averaged 14.8 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Dibami was recognized as MVP of the Big Shot Post Grad National tournament, SIAA Regional Conference, and Miami-Dade All-Star Game.
He got First Team honors in the Florida Sun Basketball Conference. Dibami helped lead his team to a state title in the SIAA Regional Conference. At the post-graduate level, he led his team to a national title.
