MIAMI, FL – FIU Men’s Basketball guard Dashon Gittens had previously announced on March 17th that he was going to hit the transfer portal. Dashon Gittens has gone that way by revealing his intentions of transferring for his senior season to the Sacred Heart Pioneers.

Higher Expectations For Senior Season

Gittens was healthier during the 2024-25 season, starting in 30 of his 33 games played. He had started in all 22 games the previous season before having it cut short due to a foot fracture. During his junior season at FIU, he averaged 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

During his sophomore season, Gittens recorded a career-high of 20 points and eight boards in a win over Houston Christian. Dashon Gittens also made a career-high 11 free throw shots in a game against New Mexico State. He averaged 9.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in 2023-24.

As a freshman, Dashon Gittens was part of the 2022-23 CUSA All-Freshman Team and was twice named CUSA Player of the Week. Gittens started in 18 of his 30 games while scoring double-figures in 10 of those contests. He averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steals in 2022-23.

Dashon Gittens will no doubt be relied upon in the starting lineup for the Pinners come 2025-26. He’s the first official commitment to Sacred Heart in what’s expected to be a week full of new transfer announcements for them. Expect Gittens to utilize lots of ball usage on the court.
