Per Jon Rothstein, the FIU Panthers have brought in University of Tampa guard Amarion Nimmers through the transfer portal.
The Panthers now have nine players, consisting of eight players from the transfer portal. Olajuwon Ibrahim is the only returner. Nimmers will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Before committing to FIU, Nimmers heard from Nebraska, Memphis, LSU, Xavier, and Mississippi State.
In one season in Tampa, Nimmers averaged 14.2 points, 1.9 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. His biggest calling card is the 37% three-point percentage and 41.8% field goal percentage. Nimmers averaged 27.0 minutes per game and ranked second on the team in scoring. Defensively, Nimmers had 40 steals and three blocks.

Nimmers began his career at the JUCO level, playing for Indian Hills Community College, averaging 6.9 points per game in 33 games played, starting six of them. He also had 22 assists, 17 steals, and three blocked shots.
Nimmers began his collegiate career at Iowa as a walk-on, but did not play. He then transferred to the JUCO level and after that, to UTampa.
