MIAMI GARDENS, Fla  The Miami Dolphins announced Dr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, President and CEO of the Urban League of Broward County, as the team’s 2025 Inspire Change Changemaker – an annual recognition celebrating leaders who are driving significant, measurable change across the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative pillars: education, economic advancement, police-community relations and criminal justice reform.

Dr. Smith-Baugh leads the Urban League of Broward County where she has made tremendous strides to advance economic empowerment, educational equity and community development for nearly three decades.

She transformed the Urban League of Broward County into a leading institution serving thousands in South Florida, driven by her commitment to social justice and community-centered solutions. Inspired by Urban League founder Margaret Roach, Dr. Smith-Baugh is recognized as a mentor and advocate across the region.

“Dr. Smith-Baugh is a remarkable leader whose vision and dedication have shaped lasting opportunities for families across Broward County,” said Miami Dolphins Vice President of Community Affairs Kim Miller. “Her work reflects the heart of Inspire Change – creating pathways, elevating communities and ensuring every individual has the chance to thrive. We are honored to celebrate her impact and spotlight the legacy she continues to build.”

Under Dr. Smith-Baugh’s leadership, the Urban League launched initiatives aligned with Inspire Change pillars, including affordable housing projects such as the Village at Oakland Park, which will provide mixed-income housing, community spaces and overall neighborhood development inclusive of resident and family needs. The Urban League is also committed to building trust between law enforcement and the community, leading multiple initiatives including their annual Youth Justice Day, which is supported by the Miami Dolphins.

Dr. Smith-Baugh will be recognized at the Miami Dolphins Inspire Change game on Sunday, Dec. 21 for her exceptional work in pursuit of education and economic advancement. She will also receive a $10,000 donation from the NFL Foundation, which will be used to fuel the important work of the Urban League of Broward County.

“The Changemakers selected this year have demonstrated what’s possible when leaders commit to creating real change in their communities,” said Anna Isaacson, Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility. “Their work is a powerful example for others and proof that sustained dedication can drive meaningful progress. The NFL family is proud to recognize their impact.”
