FIU’s all-conference first team infielder has entered the transfer portal per D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers. He is the second known player to enter the transfer portal, with the first being righty Owen Puk. West will enter the portal with one year of eligibility remaining.
West ends his career at FIU slashing .334/.440/.569 with 23 home runs and 71 RBI.
He earned all-conference second team in 2024 and all-conference first team this past season.

In his all-conference first team season, West slashed .338/.432/.547/.979 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI. He was the primary lead-off hitter for Rich Witten’s team these last two seasons. West set a career-high in home runs and batting average. He also lowered his strikeout percentage and worked two more walks than in his previous season.
West will finish his FIU career slashing .334/.440/.569 with 23 home runs and 71 RBI. He was named to Conference USA’s all-conference team in both seasons at FIU.
A Record-Breaking Season For West
In 2024, West led the team in numerous on-base categories, including OPS (1.059), triples (2), and walks (26). This past season, West finished second in batting average, OPS, third in slugging percentage, and first in walks.
FIU will now need to search for a first baseman through the transfer portal. Current in-house options include junior Kyle Koehler and Enrique Alvarez Jr. Both saw some playing time last season and can provide nice pop to a lineup that will now lack it with the departures of both Kishon Frett and Brylan West.
The lead-off spot is another discussion to be had. If infielder Alex Ulloa sticks around, he would be the ideal candidate to step into that role, one that he was already in for a stretch of the 2025 season.
West, the All-Conference infielder will be one of the hotter names in the transfer portal given his great two year stretch, but similar to Owen Puk, West could also be selected in the 2025 MLB Draft and that would make it an interesting decision on wether he will stick around for another season in college baseball, or go pro.
