MIAMI, FL – Megan Villazon and J’Dah Girigorie are the latest two pitchers to join FIU Softball. Villazon is from Miami and intends to major in rehabilitation and recreational therapy while at FIU. Girigorie is from Curacao.

Megan Villazon graduated this past spring from Doral Academy Preparatory as a two-way pitcher and first baseman. She helped the Firebirds win a State Championship title in 2021 and won the 2024 Heart of a Champion Award.
Villazon played with the club Florida Gold Torres. At the national level, she represented Cuba at the 2022 and 2024 Triple Crown International games, earning a bronze medal in 2022 and being the runner-up in 2024.
In 32 games this past season, Villazon accumulated a .475 batting average with 45 RBI. On the mount, she was outstanding. In 29 outings, Megan Villazon went 26-1 with a 0.63 ERA and 261 punchouts.

An All-American Ace
J’Dah Girigorie spent her first two seasons at the collegiate level playing for Indian River State in Fort Pierce, Florida. She appeared in 40 games during the 2025 season, posting a 32-4 record with one save, a 1.14 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 232 strikeouts in 191.0 innings tossed.
Girigorie was named FCSAA D1 Pitcher of the Year, NJCAA D1 Softball First-Team All-American, NFCA D1 First-Team All-American, and Citrus Conference Pitcher of the Year. The Peregrine had itself a strong postseason run.
In 2024, she made 58 pitching appearances. Girigorie had a 37-7 record with seven saves, a 1.56 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 311 strikeouts in 251.2 innings tossed. She was named NJCAA D1 Pitcher of the Year, NJCAA World Series MVP, NJCAA World Series Most Outstanding Player, NFCA National Pitcher of the Year, and FCSAA D1 Athlete of the Year.
D’Jah Girigorie also won FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 State Player of the Year and Citrus Conference Player of the Year. Indian River State made it to the NJCAA Division I National Championship.
Girigorie graduated from high school in Curacao in 2023, where she was a star player for the Souax Softball Team. She earned Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year honors. Girigorie has represented Curacao and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in important international tournaments.
These include the 2024 Women’s Softball World Cup, U-22 Women’s Softball Championship, 2024 European Cup U22 (Champions), 2024 European Cup Women (3rd place), 2025 Canada Cup, and 2025 World Games. She played club baseball for Sparks Dames 1 in the Netherlands and took part in the 2025 European Cup Women.
