MIAMI, FL – After having missed the last two games due to a nagging ankle injury, the announcement was made earlier today that FIU forward Jonathan Aybar will miss the remainder of the season as he underwent surgery on the ankle Thursday.
In 13 games played this season, Aybar averaged 7.2 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, and was shooting 55.4% from the field. Aybar allowed the Panthers to stretch the floor and brought speed to the power forward spot as well.
The last game that Aybar played in was on January sixth against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks where he had two points and one rebound.
Aybar now has the opportunity to sit back and rehab for the upcoming season where he can look back and see what may be the biggest issue that caused his injury-riddled season with the Panthers.
The Panthers are set to take on the Liberty Flames tonight at 7 pm in Lynchburg, Virginia. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
