MIAMI, FL – The FIU Men’s Basketball team has recruited point guard, Thiago Sucatzky. He is an incoming freshman who was born in Argentina.
Sucatzky played varsity high school basketball at Divine Savior Academy in Doral, FL. The 5’10 guard was named the MaxPreps Player of the Year as a junior during the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 14.6 PPG, 6.6 APG, 1.9 SPG, and 3.8 RPG. He set a school record for the most assists in a game with 17 and for having the most assists in a season with 164.
Thiago Sucatzky has previous experience with youth national teams. He’s played in championships with clubs such as the FIBA U16 Americas, South American U17, FIBA U18 Americas. Sucatzky has also played in club competition, representing the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2023 BWB Americas.
His father, Facundo Sucatzky, is a former basketball player himself. He started his career playing in clubs for the Liga Nacional de Basquet (LNB) in Argentina. Following that tenure, he would go on to play for several leagues in Brazil.
