PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Andres Valor hit a go-ahead two-run home run for the Jupiter Hammerheads, while Marlins prospect PJ Morlando had two hits. Jake Clemente delivered with a five-inning performance, and Luis De La Cruz got the save. Carter Johnson was perfect during the game as he crushed two homers in the game one 5-2 win over the St. Lucie Mets.
Carter Johnson Goes Deep Twice
Johnson hit a leadoff home run to start the game on a bang. The second baseman crushed a ball into deep right-center on a 2-2 count.

He wasn’t done yet, as in his second at-bat, he hit another solo home run to make it 2-0. The 2nd round pick out of the 2024 MLB Draft has started to show some progress early on this season.

Johnson put on what was without a doubt his best game up to date in a Hammerheads uniform. The Oxford, Alabama native went 3/3 with three runs scored, two homers, and nine total bases.
Johnson is hitting. 227 and leads Jupiter in runs (23), hits (25), doubles (5), walks (25), and OBP (.383). Currently, he’s tied for first in home runs (5) and RBI (18).
Andres Valor Hits Go-Ahead Homer
After the Mets tied the game at two apiece, Valor hit a huge two-run homer in the fifth to give the Hammerheads their go-ahead runs.

Marlins Prospects Make Impact
Pitchers Keep Mets in Check
Clemente had a solid outing, allowing four hits, two runs, and two walks on four strikeouts. The Coral Springs native is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA, 25 strikeouts, 1.48 WHIP, and a .203 opponent’s batting average in 21 innings tossed.
De La Cruz earned his first save of the season after allowing just two hits on one strikeout in two innings. He’s 1-1 with a 2.82 ERA, two holds, 29 strikeouts, and a 1.57 WHIP in 22.1 innings pitched.
