FIU vs FAU Men’s Basketball Matchup Announced

MIAMI, FL – The highly anticipated matchup between the FIU and FAU Men’s Basketball teams will take place at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center in Miami. Game time and broadcast details for the December 2 contest will be announced later.

The Last Time They Played

In what used to be an annual tradition, these two teams last faced each other two seasons ago. On December 4, 2024, both teams faced off at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center. Both squads traded leads. The Panthers led by as much as six points in the first half. Then, both teams kept the game within one score until the Owls went on a 4-0 run into halftime to take a 40-39 lead.

With seven and a half minutes to go, FIU answered right back by on a 13-3 run, trailing just 74-71. That was the Panthers’ last hope at winning, though. From there, FAU never looked back and expanded their lead to win 88-77.

Still, FIU gave FAU much more competition than anyone thought they would. The Owls were coming off a season where they were the ESPN Events Invitational champions and reached the March Madness tournament for the second consecutive year.

Series History

The series history between the two public South Floridian universities is nearly dead even. FIU has a slight edge in the head-to-head results with a 28-27 record.
