NU Stadium – A brilliant Lionel Messi led the Herons to a historic 7-1 rout of CF Montréal, with the GOAT scoring a poker on the night. Casemiro, Luis Suárez, and Alexander Shaw also scored in Miami’s magical night. Fabián Herbers scored Montréal’s lone goal.

Starting XI

In an interesting tactical tweak, Inter Miami slotted Brazilian star Casemiro at left center back alongside Maxi Falcón, Noah Allen, and Ian Fray. Rodrigo De Paul, Telasco Segovia, and Yannick Bright anchored the midfield, while Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Germán Berterame led the attack.

Game Action

Casemiro put the Herons ahead 1-0 with a thunderous tomahawk header off a Telasco Segovia corner kick in the 20th minute.

Fabián Herbers tied the game 15 minutes later with a shot into the inside right corner of the Miami net.

Lionel Messi’s brilliant night began with a twisting free-kick goal that put the Herons ahead 2-1.

The GOAT displayed his fabulous dribbling skills, dismantling the Montréal defense before scoring his second goal of the night in spectacular fashion.

Luis Suárez joined in the fun with a three-toe tap, scoring Miami’s fourth goal of the night off a Messi assist.

Messi completed his hat trick by chipping the ball into the net off a De Paul pass.

The rising teenage talent Alexander Shaw unleashed a booming long-distance shot to score his first MLS goal and give Inter Miami a massive 6-1 advantage.

The perfect night ended with a perfect free-kick strike by Lionel Messi, sealing the historic 7-1 scoreline—the largest margin of victory in team history. Led by Messi’s poker, Inter Miami sent a message to the rest of MLS: The Herons still have life.
