Miami, Florida – Kyle Stowers is back, boosting the Miami Marlins, enhancing a six-inning quality start from Eury Perez to end the team’s four-game skid. Stowers went 2-for-3 with a double, surviving an injury scare on his first at-bat. The left-fielder was hit on the hand by a 101 mph fastball. Fortunately, he shook it off and remained in the game. Perez, meanwhile, held the Milwaukee Brewers to an unearned run on three hits, striking out seven in the 5-3 victory.

The Fish loaded the bases during the first frame after shortstop David Hamilton botched Otto Lopez’s grounder, leading to a wild pitch that gifted the Marlins the early 1-0 advantage. Agustín Ramírez grounded into a double play, but plated Xavier Edwards. Liam Hicks capped off the three-run effort with an RBI single to left field. The score remained static until the sixth. Miami had two aboard in the third inning, thanks to X walking and Lopez managing a base hit, only to have the next three hitters retired. Both Stowers and Ramirez struck out while Hicks hit a harmless infield pop-up.

Milwaukee ended the shutout, pouncing on a defensive miscue. Hamilton walked to start the inning and then stole second base, advancing to third on Hicks’ throwing error. He scored on the Garrett Mitchell groundout. Ahead 3-1, the Marlins responded with two runs. Hicks led off with a walk augmented by Owen Caissie’s double down the first base line. With two aboard and one out, pinch-hitter Javier Sanoja poked it up the middle for the two-run single, recording his 100th career hit.

The Brew Crew made things interesting in the eighth. Gary Sánchez pulled off the two-out, two-run single, getting the better of reliever Andrew Nardi, forcing the Fish to call on Calvin Faucher to keep it 5-3. Pete Fairbanks ended the drama, collecting his third save of the season.

Stowers came at the perfect time. He served as a big morale boost, eliminating the losing streak and helping to keep the teal undefeated for the 2026 season. Clayton McCullough was ejected early in the second inning, arguing against a balk call, but the Fightin Fish persevered without him. Let’s see if the Marlins generate some momentum with the St. Louis Cardinals coming to town.
