MIAMI, FL – Both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Miami Marlins had a bulk of their hits come early in the game. The contest was tied for a good portion of time until Agustin Ramirez delivered a clutch hit for the Marlins late in the penultimate inning. Lake Bachar was then able to shut the door in the ninth inning for his first big league save. With that, the Marlins won 4-2 thanks to some late-game magic once again.
Quantrill strikes out six in start
Cal Quantrill was able to fan out six batters in his three and two-thirds innings start.
Quantrill got off to a strong start with a 1-2-3 inning, but then the defense behind him got him into some trouble. With Jackson Chourio on 2nd, Rhys Hoskins would smack a triple into centerfield. Dane Myers made an unsuccessful dive attempt, which prompted Chourio to score and for Hoskins to circle the bases for a three-bagger.
After a Chourio double and a walk to Hoskins, the Brewers were threatening to score once again. Isaac Collins did just that for the Crew by hitting a liner into center. Eventually, the Brewers would have the bags loaded. Quantrill’s heroics kicked in, though, by recording a huge strikeout.
With the bases loaded, Cal Quantrill got a huge strikeout but was pulled out of the game afterwards.

Quantrill relied heavily on four pitches. He utilized the sinker (28%), splitter (21%), cutter (21%), and the 4-seam fastball (20%).
The Fightin’ Fish come through
Kyle Stowers got the scoring started for the Fish. On a 1-1 count, the left-handed hitter belted a solo home run, his 16th of the season.

Afterwards, Eric Wagaman hit his 20th double of the season, leading not only the Marlins but all MLB rookies. Wagaman became the fourth rookie in franchise history to have at least 20 doubles before the All-Star break. He joined Brian Anderson (23, 2018), Gaby Sanchez (21, 2010), and Mike Jacobs (24, 2006).
Liam Hicks was then able to dive him in on an opposite field double. Hicks has quietly one of the more reliable RBI hitters for the Marlins when the opportunities present themselves. He has 28, which is the sixth-highest for the Marlins, while also having fewer at-bats than the hitters ahead of him.

With Milwaukee not amounting to much at the plate, the Fish had themselves a golden opportunity to score some statement runs for good.
Dane Myers, Javier Sanoja, and Xavier Edwards each had singles to start the bottom of the eighth inning. Just like that, the bases were loaded to do some serious damage. The opportunity quickly turned into disappointment after Connor Norby struck out and Otto Lopez grounded into a force out.
Agustin Ramirez, though, was able to seize the moment and come up big with two go-ahead runs. Down 1-2 in the count, the designated hitter changed the outcome of the game for good with one swing.
