MIAMI, FL – Phillip Tillman has announced his verbal commitment to FIU. The 6’1 guard will join the FIU Men’s Basketball team next season as a junior.

Tillman is currently in his first season at Arkansas State University Mid-South after having redshirted last season with the Greyhounds.
As a freshman at South Arkansas College, Phillip Tillman played 26 games, averaging 7.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals in 4.7 minutes per game. He also shot for 41.9% from the three-point line. He helped the Stars win the Region 2 Championship, handing the eventual national champion National Park College their lone loss of the season. They also won the Central Plains District Championship.
An anonymous source close to Tillman said, “He’s a versatile lead guard, powerful. Shoots the ball well off the catch and off the dribble. Finishes above the rim…is a kind of extreme character, something we really value. Someone who values winning and someone who, from the moment they step on campus, can have an impact on the program.”
The Turrell, Arkansas native attended Jonesboro High School. Phillip Tillman was a part of three State Championship teams under coach Wes Swift. He also earned an All-Conference honor with the Golden Hurricanes.
Tillman was also a standout two-way football player. He played wide receiver and cornerback in 11 games his senior season in 2022. Tillman had 15 rushes for 176 yards and a touchdown, along with 20 catches for 259 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He amassed 281 kick return yards and 78 punt return yards as well. As a defensive back, he had a tackle and an interception.
